Final reflection on Model United Nation grade

The Model United Nation went to the Model United Nation Assembly held in Manila on March 9th. On MUNA conference, each of MUN members were assigned a country that he or she need to investigate on. I was chosen as the delegate of Pakistan. I had to research Pakistan's stance on Human right issue and its current situation. After researching about Pakistan, I collaborated with other MUN members from different schools and made resolutions for the Global issues. With the resolution that I came up with, MUN members debated on it and made different amendments. Despite it was my first time to join the actual MUNA conference, the support from Brent School Baguio MUN member and from local MUN members allowed me to enjoy the conference.

In the event of MUN Assembly, I had several opportunities to learn valuable lessons. First of all, by debating and lobbying with the students who I have never met with, I was able to develop my ability of making friends. Because I had to do opening speech in front of hundreds students, I was quite nervous. However, after successfully finishing the speech, I became proud of myself and learned that I could also be a public speaker. Learning and debating on global issue was fun but above all, it was experience and lessons that made me MUN valuable.
Secondly, MUN taught me the importance of broadening one's point of view. Basically, MUN is all about being other nations opinion. Thus, I had to think in a way that other nations would think. This experience allowed me to understand other people's opinion and taught me how to harmonize my idea with others.
The experience in MUN seemed as if the effort have paid off. If I did not try, I could not have made it. However, with the help of others, I continued to be engaged in MUN and finally be a proud candidate of GIN. As a whole MUN taught me the importance of commitment.

Update on Model United Nation 3

Today, I made by first resolution on my Model United Nation rehersal. Basically, resolution is a group of proposal which I have designed as a solution of a global issue. The difficult part is that I have to lobby with other candidates to come up with an idea that most of members will be satisfied. In order to make such resolution, I went around, meeting different MUN candidates, amending on a resolution. After such effort, I spoke my resolution infront of others. During the presentation of my resolution, I almost paniced out because I was neverous and was afraid of other candidates who might dislike my resolution. Fortunately, majority of students yielded with my resolution and it was passed as a new law.

Personally, this was a very important moment for me because it was not only my first time to share my ideas but was also a time when my resolution was accepted by others. After the rehersal, I became very confident with myself. I can't wait for my real debate with other candidates from differnt school. I hope I could also be like myself when I am on the real Model United Nation meeting

Update on Model United Nation 2

Slowly, I was able to find myself becoming a better orator. Naturally, I am a shy person. I hate to speak in public because I am afraid of other's opinions. This attitude made me to become more narrow minded and inward person. However, on Model United Nation Debate rehersal with my fellow members, I saw Lee and Juhee making an outsanding speech. Their voice and confidences were so great that I was non plussed. The impression that I got from them was respect and admiration. At that moment, i realized that to speak in public is nothing to be ashamed of. If one can fully speak his or her ideas in fully manner, others will be also impressed. Then my concept of public speaking changed totally. I am practicing my speech several times to be like Lee and Juhee. I believe these practices will make me also like other orators and soon, a good Model United Nation candidate.

Update on Model United Nation

Currently, I chose North Korea as my country. I am learning about North Korea's censorship issues and its census. MUN has met once on weekend to learn about how to make general statement. After the break, MUN will have debate on censorship and will learn about methods to make resoultions.
I personally do not like the fact that 12 graders have priority to go the workshop. I think opportunity should be fair for everyone. Morevoer, if none of 11th graders will go to workshop, then who will lead the MUN on next year? I hope our heads will consider this issue and bring at least some of 11th graders to the workshop.

Until now, I haven't really get involved in serious debate. I am slowly improving by looking at other candidates who are experienced and open to discussion. Engaging with them helps me to learn the proper attitude of debate and source of knowledge. Often I try to come up with different critical questions to foster the debate. I am hoping to be a orator, a person who can strongly lead the debate
